New Year… as of this moment the new year is not even our acquaintance, although it will become a time which may stay in our memories as a friend with whom we shared the coming joy and blessings forever.
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Like a fish in the water does not understand what water is like and a bird soaring in the clouds, does not contemplate air which is based on its wings, so we do not understand about all the goodness of God that surrounds us. Therefore, let the coming year be an experience in which we acquire and realize the abundance of God’s grace and wisdom.
A new beginning in the New Year teaches us to thank God for everyday of our life that through repentance can be a day of salvation. The timeframe of a year – it’s a vicious circle of time, but spiritually, do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. Therefore, this New Year is a new test of lived time. Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.
A New Year is a hope like the peace of God which was ushered by the angels in Bethlehem that now abides in our hearts as a fire in an oil lamp. New Year – a time of meeting with friends as a sign of spiritual unity. Remember though, God will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, He will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. Although, if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that are written in the scripture, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God; blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field; blessed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.
New Year day is also a time of reflection on the meaning of life, eternity and time. The meaning and purpose of life – oneness with God, His entry into the pre-eternal light. Likewise, for a Christ-follower a time to fulfil the great commission, which is a treasure with which we gain eternity to those who are yet in dire need to get acquainted with their Savior. Our time on this planet, is but a short tenure on earth. However, the time that is so familiar to us, in fact – is mysterious and unfathomable.
In a same manner, a thinker of antiquity, Aristotle said that of all the human environment, the most puzzling is the time. Augustine believed that he knew about the time when you do not think about it; and when you start to think about time, one becomes lost, perplexed and bewildered. Plato wrote that the time is a cosmos in motion, it occurs together with the universe and disappear with it. Heraclitus compared time as a flow of river which cannot be entered twice.
Subsequently to the comparison of time, we are in a dire need of putting off our old self, which belongs to our former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires. Thus we are to be renewed in the spirit of our minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
Isaiah 43:19 says; but what is the wilderness and the desert? It is the spiritual realm in which we live at the moment. But how will God do this? Genesis 1:26 reminds us
“Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
Luke 10:19 continues to display our dominion and authority
“Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.”
Moreover, in Acts 17:30-31
“The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.”
We are the workers that He sent out, we are the ambassadors to the world. He gave us dominion and authority to conquer in the name of Jesus and for the Glory of Yehua, our Father! Let the New Year be of fulfilling the will of our Lord. Speak life, speak health, speak the Gospel and remember your testimony. Speak in love and patience. Remember the first Love and in it rise up to fulfill the great commission. Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Be imitators of God, as beloved children. If you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine, says the Lord our God. The Spirit of the Lord is upon you if you received the Lord, because he has anointed you through Christ to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent you to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. Now go heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have sicknesses, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater [works] than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. (John 14:12)
May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge,
