And He that searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because he makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God (Romans 8:7). I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:1-2). And be renewed in the spirit of your mind (Eph. 4:23).
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Eph 6:12)
As a follower of Jesus Christ we are in a war against all that are His enemies. A true Soldier practices the art of war on a constant basis. A warrior knows that he is a member of a team who serves his people and lives by a values of the unit or an Honor code. A warrior always places his mission first and never accepts defeat. A warrior never quits and never leaves his comrade behind. A warrior is disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in his warrior tasks and drills. A warrior always maintain his arms, equipment and himself. A warrior is an expert and a professional. Warriors are always ready to deploy, engage, and destroy, the enemies of the country for which they fight in close combat. A warrior prides himself as a guardian of freedom and their countries way of life.
In order for a warrior to maintain the way of life as a Soldier and a warfighter, they train repetitively in all tasks which they have to perform in order to be successful. It is called muscle memory. Muscle memory is not a memory stored in your muscles, of course, but memories stored in your brain that are much like a cache of frequently enacted tasks for your muscles. It’s a form of procedural memory that can help you become very good at something through repetition, but in exactly the same way it can make you absolutely terrible at that same thing.
For us as followers of Christ we have to remove the muscle memory we have created in us that goes against the word of God, and to renew ourselves by the Spirit in order for us to perform in a manner which will glorify God when we are under duress. The only way for that to happen is study the Word of God and meditate on it day and night. It is the food for our soul and spirit. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success (Joshua 1:8)
But his delight [is] in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night (Psalms 1:2); Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer (Psalms 19:14); I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways (Psalms 119:15); Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things (Philippians 4:8).
To meditate means to think about, to chew on, to speak it repetitively until it becomes you; to try and figure out what God is trying to tell us in His Word – and then to try and see how these divine truths can be applied in our daily life, and how we can get some of these positive qualities worked and imparted into our personalities.
Likewise, we are to be members of a team 2 Corinthians 8:4 states “Praying us with much entreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.” We cannot leave the fallen or weak behind “I have shown you all things, how that so laboring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35); Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. (1 THES 5:14).
Moreover, always be ready to engage the enemy. Jesus used the scripture to engage the devil during His temptations. He used the scripture to speak to the religious enemies of his ministry, and Jesus also used the scripture to let all know what He came to do. Learn the scriptures and be ready.
If a warrior is disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in his warrior tasks and drills; then are we not to do the same? Jesus used His life to show us the way of His Kingdom; He lead by example, and if we are to follow His example- are we not to do the same? You were given the Spirit of the Lord to live in you; accept the Spirit, be Baptized in the Holy Spirit and by the Fire; For Jesus came to baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire (Matthew 3:11). Now, The Spirit of the Lord is upon you, because he hath anointed you to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent you to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. For you are a Spiritual Warrior who is an expert and a professional. You are a Warrior who is always ready to deploy, engage, and destroy, the enemies of the Kingdom of God; be a warrior who prides himself as a guardian of freedom and your Kingdoms way of life.
