Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. (2 Corinthians 6:17-18)
If you are a Christian, you have been called out of this sinful and perverse world. You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for Gods own possession, and you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
Because we are Children of a King, we also are servants to a King. In our western culture, we truly do not understand the concept of kingdom.
In the days of great empires, there were some empires which would not fully conquer a kingdom. The Emperor would make an offer of total and unconditional surrender. If a king would accept such an offer, he would become Satrap. The emperor would rule the entire empire while kings were rulers of smaller kingdoms within the empire. While the king has total control over his territory, the emperor is the one who makes the final decision for the entire region.
Although we are in this wicked world, we are certainly not of it. For the Father’s good pleasure alone, we have been separated from darkness that we may do His good works. Just as we will escape from the final judgment of God unscathed, so too has the close attachment to our Father been made unbreakable. Nothing can separate us from His love and grace!
Nevertheless, be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is good and acceptable, total perfect will of God. As a Son, you also are a vassal to the King of Kings. The power of the King of kings is maximum, the whole empire is under his command. But we are lesser Kings as vassals, sworn to The Emperor and King of kings, Jesus Christ. What He wants is unconditional Surrender as given in the example of the Rich man and Jesus; Jesus was testing to see if the Rich man was truly in His Kingdom (Read Here). Everything belongs to Jesus; although he allows us to be in charge. When we want to let His Kingdom come, he wants to see if we are in compliance as citizens of His State.
As His citizens we are to walk with the mindset of His Kingdom. As His vassals, we have charge to finish the works of Him who sent us, to walk in the same Power and Authority as he did. For we are anointed by Him; and since The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free. He that believeth on Jesus, the works that He did, shall he do also; and greater works than what he has displayed shall he do; because Jesus sits to the right of the Father.
Moreover, we are to renew our mind, which will look forward to the fullness of Christ being formed in us. Finally, to share in the love and communion of the Father and the Son and out of that flows out heart and mind, that the world may believe that The King and our Father have sent us.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. Romans 12:1
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20
