“Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean;
Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes.
Cease to do evil. Isaiah 1:16
In order to understand this verse, one has to look at the deeper meaning of what is meant here. Most people would agree that they are not evil, thus they perceive this verse is not directed at them (especially if they identify themselves as Christians). Now, when one is to look at the this verse in Aramaic/Hebrew, specifically the word evil, The KJV translates Strongs H7455 in the following manner: evil (11x), wickedness (3x), bad (1x), badness (1x), naughtiness (1x), sorrow (1x), sadness (1x).
Now the word evil would be written as רֹעַ, pronounced ro”-ah. The definition is badness (as marring), physically or morally: be so bad, badness, be so evil, naughtiness, bad, unpleasant, evil (giving pain, unhappiness, misery), bad, unkind (vicious in disposition) sadness, sorrow, wickedness, deformity. bad, evil, wicked (ethically)
1. in general, of persons, of thoughts
2. deeds, actions
Therefore, regardless of what one identifies himself as (Christian or not), all can be morally deformed, or be marred with desires of flesh. I will concentrate on the Christian before the Lord.
So I said, “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.” —Isaiah 6:5
How do you stand before the Lord? When you are in worship, are you fully in awe and reverence of Your Lord God Yahweh? Do you worship with your innermost body? What do you think of when you are in prayer or worship? Is it about business? Someone who angered you? Are you angry, vexed, and displeased with anything?
In the Old Testament one had to go to the temple to sacrifice to the Lord God almighty, now when they would do so they had to clean and sanctify themselves. The high priest had to burn incense as well during the Old Testament, and no other part or follicle could be mixed in the oils/perfumes when they were burning it in the sanctuary behind the veil. Imagine that a particle of plastic or rubber ended in the holy fire burned before the Lord; now imagine the foul smell that would go up before the Lord.
Today, you are a temple, and your heart is the Holy of Holies; you are a priest, a royal priesthood serving the Lord almighty. The worship you bring to the Lord is your incense, and if it is mixed with any other evil, displeasure, anger… “ro’-ah”, you are burning rubber before the Lord God rather than sweet perfumed incense, creating a foul smell before the Lord.
Learn to do good;
Rebuke the oppressor;
Defend the fatherless,
Plead for the widow.
“Come now, and let us reason together,”
Says the LORD,
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool. (Isaiah 1:17-18)
Get up o Christian, return to the Bible and to the ministration of Gods Spirit to regain a high and Holy Concept of the Lord God Yahweh! To know your creator and God of all Universes is to be in awe of Him, to revere Him to fear Him and to be afraid to displease Him! Bow before His awesomeness and Wonder! Remember, that the beginning of wisdom is fear of the Lord!
Now, Father, I thank You for the promise of Your word. I thank You that it endures, Lord God, even when everything else fades away, and so, I ask that You bless us; that You keep us; make Your face shine upon us and let this day be filled with Your favor, Your loving kindness, Your mercy and Your grace. Lord, no matter what trial we’re in, we will place our trust in You, for You are our Banner, our Shield and our Buckler, the Glory and the Lifter of our head. Purify our hearts. Bring to our remembrance anything that might be a stench in Your holy nostrils. Cleanse us, that the worship this day may be a sweet perfume, pleasing to You in every way. You, Father, have made us more than conquerors through Christ. Sanctify us again by His Holy Blood and let this blessing be ours as we receive it in faith and believing. In the Name of Jesus and the Holy Spirit, we surrender to you today again. Amen.
