As we walk our daily lives out, most of us wake up, go on with our daily lives and then show up to church on Sunday. But have any of you asked what Gods desire is for you? Do you know that God sees you as a precious treasure, and He longs to have a close relationship with you? More than anything He wants you to have an intimate love relationship and fellowship with Him. God wants you to spend time with Him and intimately communicate with Him, to enjoy fellowship with Him, to trust and follow Him, and to give your life meaning and purpose by giving you the privilege of joining Him in His work. He is a God of grace, and before Grace came He did find men to have fellowship with Him.
The first example of God dining with people is in Exodus 24:9-11 “Then Moses went up, also Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and they saw the God of Israel. And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone, and it was like the very heavens in its clarity. But on the nobles of the children of Israel He did not lay His hand. So they saw God, and they ate and drank”.
However, what I want to display to you is the example of Jesus to us. In Luke 22:39 we read “Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him”. Notice that Jesus was accustomed to go there, His automatic response not only in times of tribulation, but at all times, to spend time with His Heavenly Father.
If you go to Thesaurus.com and type in accustomed, some of the results are: addicted, acclimatized, acquainted, disciplined, habituated, trained, familiar, given to, habituated in, in the habit, settled in.
Throughout the Scriptures, you will find that all great men and women were disciplined in and in the habit of spending time with God away from the daily routines alone with God. They knew the vital importance of a relationship, and they are named as a cloud of witness by Paul.
The Bible says Enoch habitually walked with God: “And Enoch walked [in habitual fellowship] with God; and he was not, for God took him [home with Him]” (Genesis 5:24). Hebrews 11:5 explains that Enoch “skipped death completely” (The Message). Instead of letting Enoch die, God transferred him directly to heaven because God was pleased with him. Here is a man who developed such an intimate relationship with God that the world could no longer hold him. Enoch developed a relationship with God. Seeking and spending time with God is your most vital need. Be addicted and acclimatized to the relationship with God. Become like Moses, who after been with God would have His glory on the face. It is better to loose friends because you are covered by the presence of God, than to lose the eternal friend, for a seasonal friend of the world. Be like Jesus, who sought the presence of Our Father, to watch against worldly temptations. Be disciplined to walk in a relationship with our daddy. Be trained and given to understanding the word of God. His sheep DO HEAR HIS Voice. But they grow up in the presence of the Sheppard.
